While at the 2024 HIDA Streamlining Healthcare Expo & Business Exchange that took place in Dallas recently, our team had the opportunity to meet with dozens of healthcare industry businesses who shared some of the challenges they routinely face within their industry. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into many industries has led to incredible advancement, including within the warehousing sector. AI technologies have brought about a substantial transformation in traditional warehouse operations by providing creative solutions that improve overall efficiency and streamline processes. The warehouse industry has reached a turning point and warehouse management is entering a period of never-before-seen innovation and efficiency.

A warehouse management system's (WMS) main goal is to make sure that materials and goods are moved through warehouses accurately and as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible. A WMS handles many functions that enable these movements, including inventory tracking, picking, receiving, and put away. By monitoring inventory and ensuring that items are correctly sorted, stored, dispatched, and tracked, a WMS plays a crucial role in ensuring that operations run smoothly. 

The next time you're at a sporting event, a retail mall, or the airport, count how many cell phones are in use as evidence that design and development should be a mobile-first approach. Some of the people you'll encounter won't ever put their smartphones down, wholly engaged with making in-app purchases, checking their social network accounts, reading the news, and, of course, interacting. Additionally, the mobile device trend extends beyond consumer use to enterprise functionality, providing employees with continual access to the apps and data they need.
